The picture below was badly faded and over time had yellowed. There were also numerous small bits of dust and scratches that had accumulated over the years. By applying our restoration techniques, we improved the contrast of the photo as well as removed the damage that had otherwise been done. Using our most cost effective restoration tier, this picture has been preserved for future generations inexpensively.

I have also included several variations of tinting that are always available free of charge.

Restoration Cost: $40

Silvering is the result of the chemical breakdown of an old image. Keeping them out of the light is essential to protecting old pictures. And at Archangel Digital, we never suggest discarding or in any way damaging your originals. They are still important, and who knows what sort of wonders the next Age of Man will have for us? We are digital archaeologists, but whereas their digs prevent future digs with advanced technology, we leave the original entirely intact, and can help future restoration efforts with our current snapshot.

With that said, the image below was clearly suffering from its age. It's ironic, the things we love and cherish and display the most suffer the greatest hardship. But with our process, we were not only able to fix the silvering, but we used the intricate carpet detail as a small border to make this picture a standard modern size, suitable for framing. The original is now stored safely, in an acid and light free environment, relatively stable. The new image is on the client's wall, and safely secured in the Archangel Digital Archives.

Restoration Cost: $50

Yellowing and fading are the most common enemy to the well kept print. The sun is unstoppable. We can and do improve UV protectants all the time, and while they help delay, they cannot ultimately prevent fading. Archivists and other professionals concerned with the preservation of images and artifacts would have you cloister your beloved images away in the darkness... and so would we. The difference is that we offer a way of not only allowing you to stabilize your heritage photography by storing it properly and safely, but you can help preserve it and view it via our professional photographic reproductions. Archangel Digital doesn't use photo-paper or ink print-outs that will fade within a few years. We use a process that actually delivers an archival quality photographic print to you.

Working closely with the pilot himself to pinpoint the authentic colors, this was a fun restoration with dynamic subject-matter. We even were able to properly restore his name to full glory under the cockpit canopy. As a birthday present from his wife, this was a wonderful candidate for our gift certificate. We could've done the restoration without him and surprised him, and we would've, but he was still surprised and got to participate in making this a great large format heritage piece that will one day go to his son.
